Archie was a much loved member of his community, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
Who is Archie Battersbee?
Archie Battersbee was a one-year-old boy who died in hospital. He was born on October 1st, 2016 and passed away on October 2nd, 2017.
Archie was born with a heart condition called Ebstein’s anomaly. This caused his heart to work harder than normal and made him susceptible to heart failure.
In September of 2017, Archie started showing signs of illness. He was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with viral myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle. His condition quickly deteriorated and he passed away on October 2nd, 2017.
Archie’s death was a tragedy for his family and friends. He was a happy and bright little boy who is loved and missed by many people.

Archie was born with a rare genetic condition that meant he was not expected to live beyond the age of 10. However, he defied the odds and lived for two more years.
During that time, he underwent numerous surgeries and treatments, but his health continued to decline. In September of this year, doctors told his parents that there was nothing more they could do for him and that it was time to let him go.
Archie’s parents made the difficult decision to end life support, and he passed away peacefully hours later.

British Courts Rejected the family request
The British courts have rejected a request from the family of Archie Battersbee, a one-year-old boy who died in hospital, to have his body exhumed. Archie’s parents, Fiona and Darren Battersbee, believe that their son’s death was the result of medical negligence and they want his body to be exhumed so that an independent autopsy can be conducted.
The courts ruled that there is no evidence to suggest that Archie’s death was the result of medical negligence. The autopsy conducted by the coroner found that Archie died of natural causes.
